Hands-On Lateral Flow Assay Development Training Returns for 2026

CARLSBAD, Calif.—DCN Dx, a specialist in lateral flow diagnostics development, manufacturing, and IVD regulatory consulting and clinical research, has announced the 2026 dates for its Basic Lateral Flow Training (BLFT) Course. This hands-on training program will take place at DCN Dx’s state-of-the-art facility in Carlsbad, California, on the following dates:

  • February 24–26, 2026
  • May 19–21, 2026
  • September 15–17, 2026

Participants receive practical instruction across the entire lateral flow assay development lifecycle, including design inputs, material selection, manufacturing considerations, troubleshooting approaches, and best practices for generating reliable results.

“This course gives participants the foundation they need to build, optimize, and understand lateral flow assays from end to end,” said Mitzi Rettinger, Chief Revenue Officer at DCN Dx. “The BLFT remains one of the most effective ways for teams to build internal capability quickly. It’s a great opportunity for those new to LFA and for people who simply need a skills refresher.”

“Our goal is to demystify effective, efficient LFA development,” added Charlie Mamrak, CEO of DCN Dx. “Strong fundamentals accelerate innovation, reduce costly missteps, and help ensure diagnostic tools perform the way they’re intended to. This is true whether you are a one-person start-up or from a larger diagnostic development organization.”

Attendees learn through a blend of interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions in the lab. The course covers topics such as reader technologies, stability studies, cassette design, reagent handling, and common assay failure modes.

Recent Participant Feedback

“Loved it. I feel like I can contribute in my company’s lab now. I would highly recommend this course to my fellow non-scientists who work with or around LFA.”

— Daniel Woolston, QuidelOrtho

“It was an amazing educational experience while also giving me a chance to network and meet leaders in the field!”

— Cannon Hansen, Rice University
